Nissan Leaf takes the lead

The PEV Market in Czech Republic is stagnant (-1% YoY), with 390 units sold so far this year, with the PEV Share stable at 0.4%, but beneath the surface, there are significant changes, with PHEVs in the doldrums (-17% YoY), while all-electrics remain positive (+6%).

Looking at the models ranking, the Nissan Leaf has took off to the #1 position, with 56 registrations this year, but the #2 BMW i3 is not far off, so the leadership race isn't yet decided.

The VW e-Golf is in Third Place, but behind it, there are several models closing in, with the #4 Jaguar i-Pace (12 registrations in May, a new record) just 6 units behind, the forever-young #5 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (11 registrations, new PB) separated by only 10 units, and the Hyundai Ioniq PHEV benefiting from the recent restyling to jump out of no where to #6, thanks to a record 16 deliveries a new record for a Hyundai nameplate in this market.

Speaking of the Korean maker, the Ioniq Electric has also shined, joining the ranking in #7, thanks to 6 deliveries, its best result in the last 7 months.

In the brands ranking, competition is the name of the game, with Nissan and BMW running ahead, both with 15% share, but Hyundai (13%), Tesla and Volkswagen (both with 12%) are actively running for #1.

Czech Republic December 2018

Resultado de imagem para 2019 VW e-Golf in Czech republic

VW e-Golf ends the BMW i3 reign and wins the 2018 Trophy

The Czech PEV Market was up 55%, to 976 units sold, allowing the PEV Share to reach 0.4%, a new record in this BEV-friendly (72% of PEVs) market, with the added bonus that all-electrics are growing faster (+80%) than PHEVs.

If the 1% mark still seems too high for 2019, we have to remember that the Skoda PHEVs (Superb and Scala) and Tesla Model 3 are all set to land this year...

Looking at the models ranking, the VW e-Golf ended a 4 year reign from the BMW i3, with a record 260 units, dropping the BMW (hot) hatchback to the 2nd spot, only one(!) unit ahead of the Nissan Leaf, that almost stole the Silver Medal, thanks to 19 deliveries in December, its best result in 9 months, with the Japanese model collecting its 3rd consecutive Bronze Medal.

Elsewhere. we should mention the good performance in December from the VW e-Up!, with 16 registrations, a new personal best, allowing it to end the year in #5. What do you know, it seems that price cuts do increase sales!

In the brands ranking, another landmark change happened, with Volkswagen (35%) displacing BMW from the sales Throne, winning its first Brands trophy, effectively ending a 4 year domination from BMW (17%), that had to settle with the runner-up status, ahead of Nissan (14%).

Looking into 2019, the VW e-Golf will have a hard time to revalidate the title, and the greatest threats won't come from the BMW i3 and Nissan Leaf, but by the Tesla Model 3, that is set to deliver some 300-400 units this year, while the local hero Skoda will start to deliver the PHEV Superb during the Summer, so expect also some 300 units coming from the Skoda midsizer, while the maker new baby, the Scala compact car, should also offer a PHEV version by late 2019, helping Skoda to race VW and Tesla for the 2019 title.

Czech Republic July 2018

Image result for 2018 e-Golf, vs Leaf vs i3

VW e-Golf takes the lead

The EV Market in Czech Republic is up 64%, with 579 units sold so far this year, with the PEV Share slightly up to 0.4%, a new record in this BEV-friendly (67% of PEVs) market, with the added bonus that all-electrics are growing faster (+83%) than PHEVs.

Looking at the models ranking, the VW e-Golf has took off to a lone #1 position, with 146 registrations this year, twice as much units as the #2 BMW i3.

The Nissan Leaf is secure in Third Place, looking to repeat the Bronze Medal won last year.

Elsewhere. good performances for the Tesla Model X, up to #7 since last March, while the Hyundai Ioniq Electric did even better, jumping to Fifth, thanks to a record performance last month, where it registered 9 units.

In the brands ranking, an important development is happening, as BMW (25%), having won every Manufacturers title since 2014, is losing to Volkswagen, now with 33% share, will we see VW break BMW's domination and win its first Manufacturers title?

The last place of the podium is now in the hands of Nissan, with 12%, with Tesla following suit, with 9%.

Czech Republic March 2018

Image result for 2018 e-Golf, vs Leaf vs i3

Three horse race

The EV Market in Czech Republic is up a moderate 17%, with 207 units sold so far this year, with the PEV Share stable at 0.3%.

Looking at the models ranking, the four times Best Seller BMW i3 lost the leading position last month, because the VW e-Golf delivered 21 units in March, winning a precious advantage over the Bimmer's hot hatch.

But the (not so) surprising result of March was the new Nissan Leaf landing with 20 units, just one below the e-Golf, so it looks that the 2018 Best Seller trophy in this market will be a three horse race, so people, place your bets, because there's no clear favorite in this trio..

Elsewhere. good performances also for the Tesla Model S, #4 in March and YTD, making it a BEV Top 4, and also a worthy mention for the hot-selling Porsche Panamera PHEV, #7 with 7 deliveries.

In the brands ranking, an important development is happening, as BMW, having won every Manufacturers title since 2014, is now tied with Volkswagen, both with 26% share and 55 deliveries, will we see VW break BMW's domination? For the record, the only time BMW lost this award, it was in 2013, when Nissan won it, with 16 units...Over the whole year.

The last place of the podium is now in the hands of Nissan, with 12%, with Tesla following suit, with 10%..

BMW i3 wins once again

The PEV Market in Czech Republic was up 74% in 2017, to a record 630 units sold this year, with the PEV Share einding at 0.2%, still a low figure, but at least both BEVs and PHEVs have a balanced share, with all-electrics owning 61% of the market, although plug-in hybrids are growing slightly faster (+85%) than BEVs (+67%).

Looking at the models ranking, the BMW i3 won its fourth consecutive Best Seller title in 2017, followed by the VW e-Golf, that thanks to the new 36 kWh version, grew from obscurity (#14 in 2016, with 7 units) to Second Place in 2017.

The Third Place was for the Nissan Leaf, while the Best Selling PHEV, the BMW X5, which ended in Fourth, its first PHEV trophy.

The 2017 Rookie of the Year award was also for BMW, with the 530e ending in #12.

Not happy with collecting every model trophy available, BMW (36%) has also won the manufacturers award, in fact, it has got this market covered since 2014, winning the laurels of believing in this market when no else one did.

Volkswagen (21%) was Second, followed by Tesla, with 13% share, that won the Third Spot race to Nissan (11%).

Czech Republic December 2016

Image result for bmw i3 in czech republic

BMW i3 #1 in slow year

The EV Market in the Czech Republic was down 14% in 2016, with 362 units sold this year, with the EV Share down to 0.14%, a 0.04% drop from the 0.18% of 2015.

Looking at the models ranking, the BMW i3 won its third consecutive Best Seller title, profiting from the investment BMW made then.

In a distant Second Place was the Tesla Model S, followed by the Nissan Leaf, with the last year Bronze Medalist, the VW e-Up! ending just outside the podium, in Fourth, with 23 units.

Tied with the German hatch is the surprise of the year, the Volvo XC90 PHEV was also Fourth, confirming the popularity of the Swedish plug-in SUV in Europe.

Good performances came across the BMW stable, with the X5 PHEV ending in #6, tied with its 330e relative, while the six-figure sports car BMW i8 did an honorable Eighth Position, thus making four BMW's in the Top 10.

On the other side, all Volkswagen Group brands regressed, with two models in particular sinking: The VW e-Golf dropped from #5 and 33 registrations in 2015, to #14 with seven units, while the Audi A3 e-Tron did even worse, going from 28 sales in 2015 to just...one unit.

In the brands ranking, BMW (41% share) won another manufacturers title, its third since 2014, winning the laurels of believing in this market when no else one did, while behind it, a strange event happened, with Tesla ending in Second, with 50 units and 14% share, followed by Volkswagen and Nissan, both tied in Third with...49 units.

Looking at regular hybrids, this class Best Sellers are above plug-ins, with four Toyota hybrids (Auris H. - 41 units; RAV4 H. - 27; C-HR H. - 24; Yaris H. - 23) selling more in December than the best selling plug-in (i3 - 16 units).

The surprise of the year, the Volvo XC90 T8 PHEV, is Second, confirming once again the good reception the Swedish plug-in SUV is receiving across Europe.

Good performances come across the BMW stable, with the X5 PHEV jumping to #5, the six-figures sports car BMW i8 maintaining an honorable Sixth Position, tied with another BMW, the 330e, which registered 4 units last month, a new personal best.
