Austria October 2015

BMW i3 Best Seller in October

193 new EV's were registered in Austria last month, with sales up 38% YoY and 1.740 units sold this year, last year record of 1.772 sales is on the verge of falling, another good sign for a healthy EV market, with the EV Share now at 0.66% (Last year it was 0.54%).

Looking at the models ranking, if the Tesla Model S reigns supreme on top of the yearly EV ranking, with 24% share, in October it only sold 36 units, being beaten by the BMW i3, which registered 52 units, its best performance in 15 months, ending a five time consecutive Best Selling streak of the Californian Sports Sedan.
  But what about Tesla's real competition? Last month the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class all outsold the Model S by a large margin, with the slowest selling of them being the Merc, selling 62 units...

Looking elsewhere, the Renault Zoe and the BMW i3, are reediting last year race, this time for the runner-up place, while the Kia Soul EV is running strong, looking to reach #4 until New Years eve.

A word for the BMW i8 performance, rising to #9, thanks to seven new registrations (Best result since February) and also a mention to the 2011 Austrian EV Best Seller, the Citröen C-Zero, experiencing something of a revival and rising to #18.

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla remains First (24% Share), with Renault in Second (17%, up 1%), BMW in Third (15%, up 2%), Nissan in Fourth (11%) and VW Fifth (9%, down 2%)

Norway October 2015 (Draft Edition)

Outlander Shines

This month it is still not possible to present a complete ranking of Norway, because the usual sources, elbil.no and gronnbil.no haven't updated their numbers with last month numbers, so we get only the partial data of ofvas.no, enough to make the following Top 4 ranking and the notion that about 3.000 first time registrations of EV's were made in October, doubling sales YoY and keeping the EV Share at around 22%.

Looking at the top spots in October:

- The VW e-Golf increased the consecutive streak of #1's to seven, leading the YTD table by far, with 27% share;

- The Mitsu Outlander PHEV made its second best performance in Norway, selling 374 units and reaching Second Place for the first time ever (Third in the general ranking and best selling SUV), securing even further its Fourth spot in the YTD ranking, and the title of Best Selling PHEV in Norway;

- Third, both in October and YTD, is the Nissan Leaf, with 355 units, a model that has been experiencing something of a resurgence in the past months, with three of the four best results being achieved in the last three months, something that will surely improve once the 30kWh version becomes available;

- As for the BMW i3, thanks to some sweet lease deals, it reached 326 registrations last month, its best result in 19 months(!), reaching #4 in the EV ranking and #2 in the B-Segment / Subcompact class, only behind the Toyota Yaris.

Slovenia October 2015

Renault Edition

A total of 90 units were registered this year, which is already more than in all the previous years combined, translating in an EV Share of 0,16%, a number that makes 2015 the Year One for EV's in Slovenia.

Renault only recently started to sell EV's in Slovenia, but they are already ahead of the (small) pack, with the Zoe registering 33 units, while the tiny Twizy (4 units) and Kangoo ZE (One registration), also made their mark, resulting in Renault owning 42% of this admittedly (still) small market.

Looking elsewhere, the BMW i3 climbed to #2, changing positions with the Nissan Leaf, while the Tesla Model S holds a steady #4, this market being a place where the Californian has been geting a warm welcome, having been inclusively the Best Selling EV in 2014.

Czech Republic October 2015

The grumpy i3 is recovering ground on the leader e-Golf

BMW i3 Recovers

The EV Market in Czech Republic has finally awaken, with 303 units sold this year, more than all previous years combined, pulling the EV Share to a respectable 0.16%, making this Year One for plug-ins in this market.

Looking at the models ranking, the BMW i3 is recovering ground regarding the leader e-Golf, while the Audi A3 e-Tron climbed to #5, changing positions with the BMW i8.

Proof that the I-Miev family is experiencing a comeback, the Peugeot iOn, Best Seller in 2012, registered its first units in two years.

In the brands ranking, Volkswagen continues to lead, with 32% share, but drops 5% regarding July, while last year leader, BMW, edges closer to the leadership, rising 3% share to 27%, as both its smaller i3 and sportier i8 offerings share rise, with the recent introduction of the X5 plug-in, expect BMW to really push VW in the race for the Best Selling Manufacturer.

Switzerland October 2015

"Tesla Pressures the Three Marys" 3rd Edition

The Swiss EV market reached the 501 units last month, the eighth time in a row that it stayed above the 500 units/month, tripling sales regarding the same month last year.

The EV Share stayed at a record 1,95%, up from 0.75% last year, placing the Swiss market as the Sixth highest EV share in the world.

The Tesla Model S sales continue smoking hot, selling 120 units last month and counting 1.269 sales this year, it is already casting a shadow to its real competitors:

In October the Model S (120 sales) was the Second Best Selling model of its class, behind the Audi A6 (150 units) and ahead of the BMW 5-Series (117) and Mercedes E-Class (105);

- In YTD sales, it is now closer to the #3 Mercedes E-Class (1.333 units), just 64 units ahead, so it is still possible to beat the Merc in the race for Number Three in the E-Segment.

In the EV ranking and behind the stratospheric Model S, the BMW i3 and the VW Golf GTE are in a close race for Second Place.

The Nissan Leaf registered only four units, its worst result since February and dropped two positions, this is another market where the 30KWh version should give a big push in sales.

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla comfortably leads with 25%, while in the race for Second Place, Volkswagen (16%) distanced itself from BMW (14%, down 1%), with Renault in Fourth, with 10% share.

France October 2015

Allez, Les Bleus!

The French EV market continues on a high note, with 2.686 units sold, up 63% YoY, pulling the EV Share to a record 1,32%.

Looking at the monthly models ranking, it's business as usual in the leadership, with the Renault Zoe reaching four digit numbers for the third time this year and the Nissan Leaf down to #4, giving way to the Renault Kangoo ZE in Second and the Bolloré Blue Car, #3 with 202 units, its best performance in two years!.

Keeping the positive note for the domestic models, the Peugeot iOn ended the month selling 100 units, while its Citroen twin, the C-Zero, had its best performance in 18 months by registering 54 new cars. while its utilitarian brother, the Berlingo EV, broke its personal record, by selling 45 units.

Looking at the YTD ranking, there were a couple of position changes, the Bolloré Blue Car climbed to #5, switching positions with the Audi A3 e-Tron, the Porsche Cayenne Plug-in climbed to #11 and finally the Citroen Berlingo EV jumped to #21.

A couple of new models arrived recently, with the BMW X5 Plug-in and Mercedes GLE500e ready to race the Porsche Cayenne Plug-in for the title of best selling luxury SUV, and looking at early signs, it seems the Bimmer is destined to be the #1 next year. Another new entry is the BYD e6, the two units registered represent the first venture from BYD in french territories, probably just to test the waters.

In the manufacturers ranking, everything stayed the same, with Renault stable in the lead (50% Share), followed by Nissan (10%, down 1%) and Volkswagen (9%).

In the aftermath of yesterday extremist attacks in Paris, our hearts and thoughts go out to the victims and their families. France, freedom and democracy will carry on despite these barbaric acts, that should be the ultimate triumph over darkness.
