China All-Time Top 5 (Until July '16)

Remember when these little buggers were Best Selling EV's in China?

The times they are a changin

There was an important change in the leadership, with the Chery QQ3 EV dropping three positions to #4 with the BYD Qin doing the opposite path, from Fourth to First, this is a symptom of the seismic changes happening in the Chinese EV market, with more regular cars taking taking over the top positions.

Besides the Chery, the Kandi K10 still shows up in #5, but it won't be for long, as the BYD e6, JAC i EV and SAIC Rowe e550 are all less than 1.000 units behind, all selling selling at much greater speed than the tiny two-seater, so it will be a question of time until both the Chery and Kandi models are replaced by two of those three models.

USA All-Time Top 5 (Until July '16)

Volt in First

We are witnessing to a surprisingly stable market, with the Chevrolet Volt still #1, benefiting from the uptick in sales of the Second Generation, thus distancing itself from the Second Place Nissan Leaf.

Tesla's Model S is now Third, having surpassed the Plug-In Prius, which is still #4 (Sometimes we forget of the success that this model made a few years back), while the Ford C-Max was surpassed by its Fusion Energi bigger brother in #5, being the only newcomer to the ranking.

Outlander PHEV Climbs to Second

In a very stable market, the only significant change was the rise of the Outlander PHEV to Runner-up Place, displacing the Prius Plug-In to Third.

The remaining models stayed the same as in 2014, with the Nissan Leaf and Outlander PHEV being the only ones that increased their numbers significantly.

France All-Time Top 5 (Until July '16)

Zoe Land

Electric car in France is now synonymous with the Renault Zoe, being by far the most common electric car in France, with the Kangoo ZE a distant #2.

In a stable ranking, with the 2014 Top 5 models being the same as now, it is important to see the Nissan Leaf jump two positions to Third, switching positions with the third Renault in the ranking, the Twizy, which has its #5 in danger, as the Peugeot iOn has made a come back from the Middle Ages and is only 140 units behind, selling three times more units this year than Renault's tiny city vehicle.

Finally, we have the Bolloré Blue Car, that has been making its way without much fanfare but enough to repeat the same place it had in 2014, the Fourth spot.

Norway All-Time Top 5 (Until July '16)

Nissan Leaf in Number One

Despite the ever-expanding sales surge in Norway, the ranking isn't all that different, with the Nissan Leaf still in the leadership, whith the Tesla Model S (#3) and VW e-Up! (#5) well positioned.

But there are differences, it's no surprise that the two veterans Mitsubishi I-Miev and Citröen C-Zero have disappeared, with the VW e-Golf landing with a bang, jumping right away to #2, while the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is the representative of Norway's latest trend, PHEV's, allowint it to rise to #4.

Germany All-Time Top 5 (Until July '16)

Open to discussion

The BMW i3 is the current Top Dog in Germany, but despite the Top 3 being separated by less than 500 units and being surprises-heavy market, the longer term trends are much more stable, with the current leader BMW i3 already appearing in 2014 at #4, while the 2014 Smart Fortwo ED still inside this Top 5 in Third, just like the Renault Twizy, Second Then and Fourth now.

In a close second we have the current market darling, the Renault Zoe, looking to put the i3 leadership to the test, while in Fifth we have last year Best Seller, the Kia Soul EV.

A recurring trend, that was also happening in previous surveys, is small sized BEV cars prevailing over the rest of the competition.
