You Give Me Fever Edition
It looks that the Outlander PHEV fever in Sweden isn't giving signs of slowing down, another record month for the japanese SUV, with 439 sales, enough to put it in #16 in the Swedish global ranking with 1,5% share, while also being the second best selling SUV of the country, only behind the Volvo XC60.
As a consequence of this, the Swedish EV market shattered the previous sales record (467 sales last April), with a brilliant result of 624 units sold and an EV Share of over 2% this month (1,52% YTD), this last number is particularly important because it places this market right behind Norway and Holland regarding plug-ins importance in the overall market.
The rest of the competition had also good numbers, with the Volvo V60 Plug-In selling 71 units and the Model S from Tesla beating its own sales record with 45 registrations, climbing three positions to #5.

ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting about Sweden. It's doing very well, largely because of Mitsubishi. 1900 sales made in all of 2013, now EVs made 2300 sales.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you want Irish sales, 5 EVs were sold in June, obviously by the Nissan LEAF. While small and journalists love to poke fun at the number, that's actually good because sales for EVs weren't really made in the summer in previous years. It also made 0.3% which is slightly above the year's average because the whole Irish market shrunk to 1690 sales last month.
1690 sales? How do you get around the Island? By bike and bus or how does it work?

It's only 4.6 million people... Recalculated for the US population (~ 300 million) it would be 110.200 Cars... Also Ireland is/was in a financial crisis.

DeleteThat is like 1/10 of sales per million inhabitants compared to most EU countries. So it's extremely low.
DeleteBut it was also an extreme month for some reason, I just checked Ireland stats and on average 11 000 cars have been sold per month so far this year, which makes much more sense.
It's nice to see that the sales are already 20% higher than in the whole of 2013. Am I optimistic if I'm hoping on a 200%(!) increase for 2014 compared to 2013? ;)

Germany Data arrived EVs are: 100 tesla, 200 i3, 80 leaf, 120 zoe = 500, the rest (=310) is probably some small, eUp and eGolf.
