Bolt vs Kona
The South Korean market is on the fast track, having reached already 1.4% PEV share, mostly thanks to the increased availability (Finally!) of the Chevrolet Bolt, with the GM model delivering a record 1,621 units last month, or three times as much as it had during the whole 2017, and the arrival of the Hyundai Kona BEV, that delivered 1,076 units in June, so expect the share to grow even further, possibly ending at 2% this year, which would be a tremendous feat, given that in 2015, the Plug-in share was only 0.2%...
If this were to happen, would it be much to ask some 20% share by 2021?
With these two models breaking records by the hour, the previous driving force (Hyundai Ioniq Electric) in the market is losing relevance, and i wouldn't be surprised if it ended the year in Third...
A final mention to the #5 Twizy, that with 984 units so far, seems to have found success here.

I think the Kona will win over the Bolt for EOY 2018
ReplyDeleteWhat has happened to the grand daddy of the South-Korean BEV market, the SM3 ZE?
ReplyDeleteIt did started a second youth last year.
It's #6, some 100 units behind the Twizy, Which is more or less in line with last year performance, the thing is that the Bolt and Kona are pushing the market to higher levels and the SM3 Ze cannot keep up.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeletehow is Tesla doing in South Korea? It has been quite quiet about them for a while now..
It's not a major player, around 100 units registered this year.
ReplyDeleteHi Jose, any more update of south korea market?
