(Quick) Markets Roundup Q1 2019

We now know what is going on in the top markets (China, Europe, USA...), but what about other significant ones?

1. Japan is down 22%, to 14k;

2. Canada is up 33%, to 10k;

3. Same goes for South Korea, up a significant 59%, to to 6k units;

The remaining markets already above 1,000 units are: Malaysia, Australia and Israel, with the Aussies, up an impressive 41%. Are plugins finally moving the needle in Australia?

    1. Their numbers are included in Europe.

      I mean, they leaving the EU, not the European Continent… :D

    Thanks.
    I did not suspect Malaysia or Israel to be mentioned as other top nations.

  3. Major takeaways: Japan is in fact still much larger than Korea (though maybe not for long, if current trends continue...); while Canada is a more important market than I realised. (And surely even more so going forward, with the new federal incentive introduced just recently...)

    Nice to see progress in Australia despite the lack of incentives :-) This seems to be a global trend: while markets without incentives are generally a few years behind those that have incentives, the growth rates tend to be similar.

    1. I have high hopes for Canada, if they managed to already go North of 2%, now with the Federal incentive, i expect sales to pick up significantly in the remaining of this year.

    This is really interesting as I wonder if there will be over a million ev sales outside of China this year.

    1. Assuming you are including PHEVs, it was already close to a million outside China last year... With all the interesting new or improved models arriving this year (Leaf+, e-tron, EQC, international Model 3, new Soul, new IONIQ, international Niro, new Zoe etc.), or having the first full year of deliveries (I-Pace, Kona, improved i3), I'm hopeful it should crack a million easily this year.
