Seven Wins in Seven months Edition
That is the latest score for the Model S in Canada, winning every month since last December, it looks that the California-based brand is the new darling among Canadian consumers and while it is still far from the record winning streak of the Chevy Volt (20 consecutive #1's, from 2011 to 2013), it is still telling of the success story that Tesla is, besides, since 2013 that nobody else had such a high share on the EV Market.
Another measure of Tesla success, is that it if we consider it as a premium brand, the Model S is Third in its class regarding total sales in the general market, only behind the Merc E-Class/CLS, and the Lexus ES.
Regarding the rest of the market, there isn't much to say, with YTD numbers set to break another record, as it has been the norm since 2011, with the EV Share only slightly above the 2014 result (0,275% vs 0,271%), this contradiction (Sales record but average EV Share) is due to the fact that the general market is also beating all-time highs.
Looking elsewhere, the Volt had its best result in 9 months, with 120 units, thus beating the Leaf (101 sales) to be the monthly #2, while the Chevy Spark EV had its best result ever, with 7 units, profiting from the fact that now all Canadians can purchase it instead of only fleet buyers.
Finally, the buying habits similarities with its southern neighbor are quite obvious by this time, not only Tesla is Numero Uno in both, but the whole Top 4 positions are the same (Model S-Leaf-Volt-i3), and Canada is also embracing pure electrics the same way as the US (Tesla Success, Volt sales decline), although here the Share climb has been even more impressive: BEV's had 30% share in 2012, 51% the next year, 58% last year and...73% now!
