The Model S is Third, behind the Mercedes E/CLS-Class and BMW 5-Series sales champs, while the rest of the competition is behind the Californian.
An interesting stat is that the Model S is the only model in the ranking with YoY growth (+16%), while every other model here are having a two digit sales dive...

The Model X has a much tougher cookie to deal with than its older brother, not only the number of competitors is higher, but the numbers are growing every passing month, so it will be a lot more difficult to reach the front positions.
As final treat for this months edition, here is a link for an interesting article in Jane Ferguson's website, where she makes a comprehensive study on the overall cost of a Nissan Leaf, compared to a regular gas car, in the several US states, with some interesting facts. like: The state with most incentives, besides the federal 7.500$, is Colorado, with an additional 6.000$.

why are tesla sales (estimates) so low compared to march?
ReplyDeleteTwo diferente reasons:
Delete1 - Model S: It's the first month of the quarter, usually the slowest for deliveries, as Tesla allots most production for overseas markets;
2 - Model X: Quality problems made Tesla increase the number of QC procedures, thus slowing down the rythm of production.
