The Rise and Rise of the Volt
After recording 747 units in May, which represents a 39% increase regarding last year, YTD sales are at 3.353 units, 64% above the same period last year, with the EV Share at 0.42%, heading the Canadian EV Market to some 8.500/9.000 units by the end of the year.
The Chevrolet Volt, four times Best Selling EV in Canada (2011, '12, '13 & '14), leads the way, improving its own record for the third consecutive time, to 270, which begs the question: Where will the sales peak for the Chevy product be? 300 units a month? 400? Spoiler alert for June: 320 units, new record for the fourth time in a row.
Besides the 320 Chevy Volts registered in June, the other model with available numbers for June is the Nissan Leaf, with 123 units.
Looking at the rest of the competition, there aren't many highlights to mention, with the Ford Fusion Energi rising one position to #13.
As curiosity, while the aforementioned Fusion Energi loses strength when it crosses the border to Canada (#3 in the US vs #13 here), there are others that feel more welcomed north of the border, like the Kia Soul EV (#4 here vs #17 in the US) or the Ford Focus Electric (#12 vs #19).
