Tesla Model 3 shoots to #1
After a memorable 2019, where PEV sales doubled regarding 2018, sales continue going through the roof this year, with 4,166 units so far (+90%), and because in March the overall market was heavily affected by the Coronavírus-related lockdown (-42% YoY), the PEV share jumped to 12% last month, a new absolute record in Denmark, helping the 2020 share to reach 8,5%, more than doubling the 2019 share (4,2%).
This memorable performance was mostly due to the Tesla Model 3 performance, that delivered 728 units last month, earning its second Best Seller award in the overall market in the last 4 months.
With the Model 3 thundering performance, the Californian jumped to the leadership of the plugin category, while the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV also shined, scoring its second record result (223 units) in three months, allowing it to climb to the runner-up spot, relegating the previous leader VW e-Golf to 3rd.
Another model rising is the Renault Zoe, that was up to #8, last month.
In the Manufacturers ranking, Tesla (23%) jumped to the leadership, removing Kia (20%) from the top spot, while Mitsubishi (12%) displaced Volkswagen (11%) from the last podium position.
In spite of the good progresses made during the first two months, the Dannish PEV market ended the quarter at the same levels of 2019, with the long time leading carmaker Kia-Hyundai in the lead.

ReplyDeleteTesla sold 10,160 vehicles in March in China a record for that country.
These numbers are "wholesale" deliveries, i.e. from the factory to dealers. Since Tesla doesn't have independent dealers, the general understanding is that these are simply production numbers in the case of Tesla. We don't know yet what actual sales (customer delivery) numbers are...
