Model S #2 and Golf GTE Jumps to #5
The Swedish EV market is once again pressing on the accelerator, registering 603 units, 51% above the same month last year, improving also over this years August (587 units) and July (559) months.
The EV Share is at 2.16%, a full half percent above last year result (1.66%).
The Outlander PHEV continues leading the Monthly ranking, something it has been doing since November '13, something the Tesla Model S is trying to emulate for #2, the Fremont-made EV was Second for the fourth month in a row, this time with 85 units, a result somewhat below expectations, especially considering the results of their direct competitors: The Audi A6 sold 376 units last month in Sweden, the BMW 5-Series registered 373 units and the Mercedes E-Class, 209. There's a lot room to grow, Tesla...
In other news, the Volvo V60 Plug-In returned to a Top 5 position, in...#5, the swedish estate had been out of the first positions since June.

I can be wrong but I thinks that's possible that Tesla is prioritizing Danish car orders above others Nordic orders (Norway being apart as it's not depending of Tilburg assembly line). I would say that seeing what's going on with the speeding production of Danish car orders in the TMC google spreadsheet and, the fact that Tesla seems to continue to have production constraints.
ReplyDeletePossibly, we will know that next week, considering the headwinds regarding EV's in DK, Tesla could be wanting to cash in on it now before the coming sales drought.
DeleteThere is not prioritizing. Everyone in Sweden (and the nordic countries minus Iceland) gets their cars straight away after orders (and by straight away I mean within 3 months since Tesla produce and ship about once a quarter to Europe).
DeleteSo everyone in Sweden that wants a Tesla gets it. And no wonder considering that production capacity is more than covering the demand.
The reason for the sales in Denmark is the 150% tax on ICEs. And the surge and even potential higher surge of sales is because that the Tesla might (will?) get that tax soon too. But it's still an extremely low fluctuation for Tesla and something they will easily handle.
