Smart ED getting used to Madrid's Movida |
Car2Go - Second Edition
Some 350 units were registered last month, with sales 34% YoY and the EV Share rising slightly to 0,28%, a record high, which could indicate a market in perfect health, only...It doesn't.
This result is mostly due to a fleet deal, thanks to the delivery of 153 units of the expected 500 Smart Fortwo ED of the Car2Go car-sharing company in Madrid, if we removed these units from the total number, sales would actually be 25% below the result recorded twelve months ago, it looks that the end of the Movele incentives program took a beating to the market and was only rescued by a big fleet deal.
Anyway, this result allowed the Smart to shoot for Number One for the first time ever, with Spain now being the only market where the Fortwo ED is ahead of the race.
There were no other significant changes in the first half of the ranking, but the second half has seen some changes: The Porsche Cayenne Plug-In is up to #12, while the Mercedes S500e has climbed to #17 and finally the Tesla Model S has registered one unit, allowing it to climb one position, to #21, a somewhat underwhelming position for the Californian, let's hope that next year, with the inclusion of dealerships and service centers, things really start going.
On the manufacturers ranking, Renault (23%) is steady in the leadership, while #2 Nissan (20%), lost 2% share. Third is Smart (15%) and Mitsubishi (13%, down 1%), Fourth.
