32% Share in November!
With the market doubling the result of November '16, to over 300 units, and the last month PEV share reaching a record 32%(!) share, sales are going through the ceiling, this year sales are almost tripling regarding the same period last year, with the market share now at a record 14%.

At this pace, expect this market to reach 50% share in 2021...Outlandish? Maybe, but i believe it's possible.
Looking at the models ranking, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has once again outdone itself, by registering 154 units, a new all time record for a single model here, allowing it to be the November Best Seller in the general auto market in Iceland.
The reason for this success? Well, it has a Plug and it's an SUV, which are the two main trends in the Icelandic auto market...
Looking elsewhere, the VW Golf GTE surpassed its all-electric sibling, the e-Golf, thanks to 19 deliveries, its best sales month on the Island, allowing it to reach #5.
Down below, climbed to #11, while the Kia Niro PHEV jumped to #19, in only its third month on the market.
The Korean has all the right ingredients to be successful here, as it has a Crossover body, usable electric range (For a PHEV, at least) and it is one of the most affordable PHEVs on the market. Should the local Kia importer want, it could well be a podium candidate next year...
In the brands ranking, Mitsubishi (29%, up 2%) is in the leadership, followed by the #2 Nissan (19%, down 2%) and #3 Volvo (11%), with Volkswagen (9%) still on the lookout for a podium seat.

In a market that reached 32% share last month, plug-ins are becoming more and more synonym with overall best sellers, despite not having full access to the models ranking, we do have access to regular hybrid sales.
If we add regular hybrids to plug-ins, the high share of these last ones is noticeable, as regular hybrids only have one representative, in the form of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid.
Looking at the Top 5 best sellers, we see representatives of each technology, with three PHEVs (#1 Outlander PHEV and #3 Volvo XC90 PHEV, and #5 VW Golf GTE), one BEV (#4 Nissan Leaf) and one HEV (#3 Yaris Hybrid).
As plug-ins continue to increase share, expect at some point in the future this Top 5 to be 100% PEV, with PHEVs winning customers that previously went to unplugged hybrids.
