Audi A3 e-Tron wins July
It seems the incentives are finally helping out this market, with over 4.200 plug-in passenger cars registered last month in Germany, the market jumped 142% YoY, pulling YTD sales to a 119% growth rate, with all the Dieselgate aftermath, it seems the German PEV market reached a tipping point, from where the current PEV record share of 1.3% can only climb higher, maybe hitting 1.7% by year end, which, considering we are talking about the largest auto market in Europe, it's a looot of plug-ins.
Looking at July Best Selling models, the Audi A3 e-Tron (529 units, only 6 units behind the personal best) surpassed the Renault Zoe, with two BMW's, the 225xe Active Tourer and i3 also in the Top 5.
The real surprise, or not, were the 365 registrations of the Kia Soul EV, its best performance since last October, but then again, we all know what happens to them (90% show up one week later in Norway). Kia cheating the EU rules, time and time again.

Looking at the YTD ranking, unlike what is usual, it has been a rather stable month, we have to go down to #16 to see some position changes, with the BMW 530e jumping four positions, thanks to 145 units (New pb), being by far the Best Selling Rookie.
Speaking of recently landed models, the Second Generations of the Smart Fortwo ED and Porsche Panamera PHEV climbed a couple of positions, now standing at #21 and #22, respectively, while the Mini Countryman PHEV joined the Top 30, thanks to 42 units.
In the manufacturers ranking, BMW (22%, up 1%) is on the lead, followed by Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen, all with 12% share.

Not a good month for Tesla thou, I guess it is not worth to run "Tesla & others". Thanks for the post, Jose.
ReplyDeleteYeah, first month of the quarter = worst month of the quarter.
