Nissan Leaf takes the lead in Boiling Hot Market

The Icelandic plug-in market is on the fast track to become the Second market, after Norway, to reach the tipping point of EVs becoming mainstream, with this year sales growing 208%(!!!), the EV market share is at a scarcely believable 10,2%(!), almost doubling last year result.

This "Second Norway" has the two times winner (2013 & 14) Nissan Leaf in the lead, with 27% share, followed by last year winner Outlander PHEV, a plug-in SUV that suits well with local tastes.

Looking at the remaining models, only three other models surpass the 20 registrations, with Volvos being quite popular this year and the VW Passat replicating the success it has in other Scandinavian countries.

Rather interesting is last month result of the Renault Zoe, after registering its first two registrations of 2017 in February, in the following month the French hatchback registered 14(!), an astonishing number, considering that previously there were only 6 Zoe zooming in Iceland…It looks once again the ZE 40 version is spreading the Renault Zoe horizons…

In the brands ranking, Nissan (30%) is head and shoulders in the leadership, followed by Volvo (14%) and Mitsubishi (13%).
