Outlander PHEV: Surprise of the month

Springtime Records - And the Beat Goes On

Another record month in Germany, with 1.054 plug-ins sold (First time above 1.000 units), and with the introduction of the VW e-Golf right around the corner, sales will only go up, can this be a sign that this market is ready for the four-digits phase? For now the EV Share is at 0,33%, having improved 0,01% share regarding the month before.

The BMW i3 (274 units sold, personal best) was still #1, but the VW e-Up! came close (248 units, also personal best), with the third spot going surprisingly for the Mitsu Outlander PHEV, with 118 units, being the best foreign car, let's see if it can keep up the pace in the following months, if it does, we will have a surprise in our hands...

In the YTD chart the only relevant change is the positions switch between the Renault Zoe, now #5, and the Nissan Leaf, which has dropped to #6.

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, BMW is leader with 27% share, followed by Volkswagen (17%) and Renault (13%).

Which one has the more Striking Look? Mmmmm...Tough Choice.

Slow Path to Recovery Edition

Slowly but surely, the french EV market is on its way to recovery, selling 1.212 units, making it the third month of sales improvement and pulling the EV Share to 0,61%, but still far from the 0,84% recorded last year.

The Zoe is growing at the same slow pace of the market, registering 410 units this April (Best sales month since October), the Nissan Leaf continues to surprise (178 units, best result since last October), while the Kangoo ZE (229 units, best result of the year) seems untouched for now by the competition of the Berlingo / Partner twins (They registered just 21 units combined), but as the competition increases (Nissan e-NV200 arrives in June), will the Kangoo ZE still be the undisputed king of electric LCV's some six months from now?

Italy April 2014

Numb Edition

After 190 units sold in March, the Italian EV market went back to two-digits in April, with the EV Share stuck at 0,09%. But all is not bad, the total amount of sales this year are at 439 units, way above the 274 registered a year ago.

There wasn't any real surprises in the ranking, with only three models (Twizy, Leaf and BMW i3) scoring significant sales.

In the YTD ranking the Twizy is #1 and the last place of the podium changed hands, with the BMW i3 (28 sales in April) rising to #3 and the Renault Zoe dropping to #4, the french hatch had an horrible month, selling just 4 units, its worst result ever.

BMW i3: This intriguing piece of design is the surprise of the Spanish EV market

Caught a Light Breeze Edition

There were 64 units sold in April, best result of the year and pulling the EV Share to 0,07%, but still far from the 0,18% registered last year, let's hope the announced governmental aids can pull this market to better numbers.

Only two models sold in two digits, the Nissan Leaf was #1 in March with 29 units, recovering the YTD leadership from the BMW i3, which sold 10 units.

Final mention for the Renault Zoe, registering 9 units (#3 in April), and climbing to #5.

Netherlands April 2014 (Updated)

This Beauty seems to be condemned to be the Runner-up in Holland...

Outlander is Back! Edition

After some months of relative low-profile, the 2013 Best Seller Outlander PHEV is back in charge with over 1.560 sales, followed at a distance by the V60 Plug-In (401 units), with these two pulling the EV market to 2.251 registrations, best month of the year.

Far and away from the first two, there's the rest of the competition, with the VW e-Up! in Third, with 90 sales, followed by the archenemy BMW i3 (77 units) and in #5 we have the Model S from Tesla (49 sales), probably waiting for more stock to refill dealers.

The EV share is up again to 4,21% and the question now is...Will it reach the 5,55% recorded last year?

Denmark April 2014

Will the Outlander make an impact in Denmark?

Glory Leaf Edition

Another good month for the Danish market, with 124 units sold, proving that this market has got really comfortable with 100-plus sales (Third month this year at that level), with the EV Share now at 0,65%

Looking at the models ranking, the Nissan Leaf made a new record for a single model (84 units), surpassing the record established by Tesla in March (79 units), recovering with it the YTD leadership.

The other two models selling significantly were the Model S from Tesla, with 15 units (Probably waiting for another boat loaded with new cars) and the VW e-Up! (13 units), while the rest of the competition sold in single digits.

Even these are selling ok in Norway

Breathing Time Edition

After another historic month, the EV Market in Norway took a little time to breathe and  just sold 1.481 units, enough for a monthly EV Share of 12,2%, with the YTD share dropping to 15,22%.

Looking at the EV's perfomance in the general ranking, there's just one plug-in in the Top 10, the Nissan Leaf was #2 with 451 sales, far away from the VW Golf, leader with 766 registrations, although the Tesla Model S (#19 in April, #5 in the EV ranking, with 171 sales) is still #2 YTD, with the japanese electric hatch right behind in #3.

Despite this less extraodinary month, there's some points to notice:

- The VW e-Up! (257 sales, 977 YTD) is consistently ahead of the BMW i3 (236 sales, 882 YTD) in the fight for #3;

- The Outlander PHEV is by far the best selling plug-in hybrid, selling 183 units, eons ahead of the next PHEV, the Prius Plug-In (5 Units);

- Staggering performance of the Ford Focus Electric, registering its best performance ever in Europe, with the extraordinary amount of...37 units;

- In the LCV front, the Kangoo ZE (3 sales) is suffering with the competition from the PSA twins (Partner EV - 14 units; Berlingo EV - 10 units), and with the Nissan e-NV100 landing this month with its first two units, it looks that the Kangoo ZE no longer will be the sales leader regarding this particular market.
