After a record result in October, December came to be the second best selling month in the Spanish PEV market, up 126% to 998 units, pulling the yearly tally to 7.448 units, doubling last year result, with the PEV Share ending at a record 0.6%.
Looking at the BEV/PHEV breakdown, BEVs still outsold plug-in hybrids (53% vs 47%), but PHEVs made big progresses, growing from 33% in 2016 (And 25% in 2015), to the current 47%.
Keeping up with the trend, we should see Plug-in hybrids outsell pure electrics in 2018 for the first time.
The Renault Zoe was the Best Selling model in 2017, earning the French brand first models title since 2012, when the Twizy registered 943 units, the best result until this year, when the Zoe became the first model to break into the four digits.
The previous two times winner Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV falied to renew the title, but still managed to climb to Second Place in the last month of the year, thanks to 118 registrations, while the BMW i3 returned to Third Place, which was the hatch first podium in Spanish lands.
December was a good month for the BMW 225xe Activer Tourer, that scored a record 61 registrations, allowing it to climb to #6, while the Tesla Model S scored a personal best of 39 deliveries, ending the year with 225 units, a far cry from the previous best (46 units), which pulled the American Sports Car to the Spanish Top 10 for the first time ever.
