Netherlands September 2014 (Updated)

Tesla was the winner of the month

Roller Coaster III - Going Up

After several months going down, the Dutch EV market finally started to recover, last month there were 1.140 registrations, better than the last two months, but still a below average month, dragging down the EV Share to 4,07%.

Looking at the models ranking, the Outlander PHEV had an off month, selling some 400 units, its worst performance since the hangover month of January. On the other hand, Tesla had its best month of the year, collecting 289 registrations and putting its Model S in Second Place on the monthly ranking and recovering the #3 in the YTD ranking, while registering an honorable #31 position in the global ranking, 23 positions ahead of its E-Class main competitor, the BMW 5-Series.

The Nissan Leaf also surprised the market in a good way, selling 117 units, its second best performance of the year (It had sold 138 in March), and in the YTD ranking it's putting pressure on the #4 BMW i3, with only 12 units separating both cars.

An interesting development of these past months is that BEV's are recovering share (20% this year vs 15% in 2013) in this market, known as PHEV capital of the world.

  1. "Outlender PHEV had a terrible month,"

Buyers are definitely awaiting their deliveries of the Golf GTE. Don't worry, plug-in share will skyrocket as soon as deliveries start.
