China EV Sales - December 2025 / Full Year of 2025

Another Record Month!

- The biggest EV market in the world, representing 62% of all EV sales globally, ended the year with a record month, and with BEVs representing 35% of all sales;

-Adding PHEVs to the tally, December's share was 59%, with the year ending with a 54% market share for plugins, 33% for BEVs alone;

- While a sliding BYD continues dominating, on model level, after years dominated by the BYD Song and Tesla Model Y, this time we have a new leader, with the Geely Xingyuan (EX2 in export markets), winning the 2025 trophy, followed by the tiny Wuling Mini EV.

- Expect the market to continue growing, with 2026 probably ending north of the 60% mark, with the 80% mark probably being crossed before 2030 and close to 100% before 2035. In the largest automotive market in the world.

- And when the biggest automotive market gets fully electrified...

Brands Ranking - BYD Leads, followed by a rising Geely, while Wuling closes the podium. Tesla fell from the 2nd spot of 2024, to 4th in 2025.

OEMs - Sliding BYD won, Geely shortened the distance and Changan replaced Tesla on the podium.
