Boatloads of Teslas have reached Dutch lands |
Year Best in Tesla-land
Looking at September results, it's the glass half full/half empty dilemma, if on the one hand numbers dropped 23% YoY, the 1.131 units achieved last month represent a new record in this new era of BEV-only incentives, with all-electric models making the most (1.6%) of the current 1.9% plug-in share.
September was a 1-2 month for Tesla, with the Model S winning another Best Seller award, with 310 deliveries (Best result in 18 months), with the Model X winning Silver, with 244 units, its best performance in Dutch lands.
The VW e-Golf was Third, with 121 deliveries, a new record for the German model, no doubt profiting from the extended range appeal, while the BMW i3 (93 units, year best) and Hyundai Ioniq Electric closed the Top 5.

Looking at the YTD ranking, there weren't many significant changes at the top, with the most relevant news being the #7 VW e-Golf closing in on the models above it, so it seems the Best Selling regular-priced (<40.000 €) BEV, has won yet another contestant. Should be an entertaining race to see...
Another two BEVs are climbing the ranking stairs, with the Rookie of the Year Opel Ampera-e climbing to #11 (Will it reach the Top 10 in October?), while the Smart ForFour ED is now #19.
On the Best Selling PHEVs side, the BMW 530e was last month Best Seller, with 17 units, allowing to reach #14, and with potential to reach higher standings.
In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla is head and shoulders above the competition (36%, up 4%), while in Second Place we have BMW (12%, down 1%), with Hyundai (11%) now closing in, while Renault and Nissan (Both with 9%) are on the lookout for a chance to join the podium.

If we add regular hybrids to plug-ins, the Kia Niro was once again the Best Seller, with 413 units (Now imagine what a BEV Niro could do), with the remaining Top 5 being divided by Toyota (#2 Yaris and #4 Auris) and Tesla (#3 Model S and #5 Model X), proving that with the current fiscal system, Tesla is the only brand able to sell at the same level that regular hybrids can.

Looking at the E-Segment/full-size vehicles, not much new, with the BMW 5-Series in the leadership, followed by the Tesla Model S in Second Place.

Big SUV's had a big hit with the end of PHEV incentives, to the benefit of the Tesla Model X, which now has the big advantage of being the only model eligible to plug-in incentives, with the American Sports SUV selling in a much higher level than the rest of the competition.
In fact, when it comes to Premium SUV's, if we go down one size level, the Best Selling midsize ICE model was the Volvo XC60, with 163 units, not enough to beat Tesla's SUV, while the best selling Premium SUV, all sizes added, was still the Model X, as the Second Best Selling model was the much cheaper BMW X1, with 242 deliveries.
Tesla is winning big with the new Dutch fiscal system...
