Estonia December 2017

Another win for the Nissan Leaf in depressed market

Only 52 new Plug-ins were registered here, a 7% drop regarding the previous year, that dragged the market share to just 0.2%, a far cry from the 2.6% record year of 2012.

In the midst of these low results (No incentives?), the Nissan Leaf won its fifth consecutive Best Seller award, by selling 10 units in 2017.

Second was the surprise of the year, the Toyota Prius PHEV, that with 6 deliveries until now, had its best year ever in Estonia.

In the manufacturers ranking, Nissan (21%) narrowly overcame Tesla (20%), winning it's fifth manufacturers title, while Toyota, Volkswagen and BMW, all with 12% share, ended tied in the last place.

  1. Not sure if that explains it but Estonia has one of the most carbonated electricity in the world so having an electric car there doesn't make a lot of sense because it emits even more CO2 than a petrol car over its lifetime.

    1. Could be part of the explanation.

      Thanks for the input!
