Norway May 2015 (Updated)

Another PHEV to steal sales from the regular ICE SUV's

Plug-In Hybrids on the Rise Edition

Some 2.500 sales were registered last month, up 60% YoY, with the EV Share slightly up to 21,96%, one could say that the 20-something Share is the new normal...

In May the Top Two positions belonged to the usual top players (e-Golf and Model S), but below these two, several plug-in hybrids appear, thanks to new incentives for this kind of vehicles, PHEV's get a boost in sales, with the Outlander PHEV in Third with 258 units (Best result in the last 14 months), followed by the VW Golf GTE (221 units) and the Audi A3 e-Tron in Fifth (176 units, tied with the Nissan Leaf).

Speaking of Nissan Leaf, the japanese sales have slowed significantly, to have an idea, twelve months ago, Nissan's EV registered 342 units, now it accounted just 176...

Looking at the YTD ranking, the Outlander PHEV switched positions with the A3 e-Tron, rising to #5 and being now the Best Selling Plug-In Hybrid.

The Golf GTE jumped five positions to #9, entering the Top 10 and stealing the Rookie Of The Year title from the Merc B-Class ED.

A sign of the more welcoming times for plug-in hybrids is the fact that the BEV / PHEV share is now at 82 / 18, when last year, PHEV's had just 10%.

Looking ahead, Renault made a 300 Kangoo ZE fleet deal with the Norwegian Postal Service, so expect the french van sales to increase significantly in the coming months.

  1. According to http://www.gronnbil.no Mercedes sold more, they are listed as:
    Jan 2
    Feb 34
    March 113
    April 145
    Mai 238
cars. The smart division is listed seperately, so these have to be C350e or B-ED. I would guess most of them are the B-ED. This makes around 500 B-ED sold trough may.

  2. Hmm, but ofvas.no has only 1919 BEVs+ 805 PHEVs = 2724. Maybe groonbil.no listes also hybrids, they state 3131 cars for may 2015.
