Canada January 2018

Tesla Model 3 starts in the lead

January registered some 2.300 plugins in Canada, up 75% YoY, with the 2019 PEV share starting at 2%.

After a weak year end, due to the focus on deliveries south of the border, the Model 3 is back on track in Canada, with the midsizer leading in January, by a sizeable margin.

On the other hand, Chevrolet is going down, not only its bread and butter Volt dropped 5% regarding the same month last year, but the Bolt was down an astounding 32%(!), to 125 units..

Besides Tesla, the main benefitter was the Nissan Leaf, that is now in the runner-up place, thanks to 247 units,  and should be the main candidate for the Silver medal this year.

Regarding the manufacturers podium, Tesla (42%) is head and shoulders above the competition, while Chevrolet (14%) is holding on to Second Place, with Nissan (11%) in Third Place.

Looking at the midsize vehicles general ranking, this time the Model 3 was 2nd, as the Toyota Camry managed to overcome it.

Looking into 2019, expect the Model 3 to continue running for the category leadership, as the Premium title seems to be already in the bag.
