Switzerland August 2014

BMW Shines

In an average sales month (123 sales), BMW was the star of the month, with the i3 again Best Selling EV of the month, with 41 units, allowing it to leave behind the Renault Zoe and reach #2 in the YTD ranking, while the i8 sports car had a brilliant performance, selling 10 units, enough for a Fourth Place in August and pushing it to #9 in the YTD ranking, surpassing McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 in the plug-in sports car ranking, although, truth be told, it is a bit unfair to compare seven-figure-priced cars with six-figure-ones...Even in Switzerland.

As for the rest of the ranking, there weren't that many sales to mention, with the Nissan Leaf selling 7 units and winning the isolated #5 place.

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, the top three are running for Number One, with the leader Renault (29%) losing ground to Tesla (27% share), and BMW (23%).

  2. 10 i8 sales is actually something substantial. With the Swiss bankers over there and some rich families about, sure looks like this is a market for the upscale EVs versus the lower-end ones. See the YTD McLaren P1 sales of 10.

  3. Brilliant job as always, Jose. =)
Hoping to see a "Europe August" post soon. The world wide seems to come later with big nations Japan and China still not reported.
