USA January 2015 (Updated)

Germania Edition

5.774 plug-ins were sold in the US last month, a slight improvement on the same month last year, with the Leaf on the lead.

The Model S from Tesla was Second, but the real surprise came in Third, with the BMW i3 collecting 670 sales, benefiting from the downwards sales trend of  Toyota, Chevrolet and Ford.

But there were other teutonic cars to leave a good impression, the VW e-Golf was #9, with 181 sales while the Mercedes B-Class has made a surprising #8 with 240 sales, making four German cars in the Top 10, not bad, eh?

  1. Please fix your Tesla estimate. The 1100 insideevs estimate for Tesla is for US + Canada. If Canada is 100 to 300, per insideevs, US number is 800-1000. So, please put Tesla at #2 if comparing US sales.

  2. That is right the 1100 are a estimation for north america. Not US bound. Still a good number :)

    2. José, after your update the January and CYTD figures for the Leaf and Model S are inconsistent (you forgot to update the Jan column)

    3. When I add all numbers i come up at 5674 cars in sum. Calculated twice, have you a column "other" which is not shown here?

      Thanks for your work.

    1. Be patient, the month is still in its first half.

    2. Germany is normal/good (659 EV + 593 PHEV). If you want to know sooner than Jose writes, "see for yourself (!)", every country has a official statistical homepage (kba.de for germany). And you can use google translate if you don't know the language.

Jose is making a good job, you have to be patient. Not all statistical offices are fast. Sometimes the german agency/office is so slow they wait till the 10. of the next month for global numbers and for model numbers till the 25. of the next month... I think in other countries it's the same.
