Norway April 2015

GTE: Another model ready to cannibalize regular ICE's sales?

Fresh Blood Edition

EV Sales in Norway went back to normal, to just 2.552 registrations, with the EV Share regressing to a meager 21%....

In April the Top Two positions belonged to te usual top players (e-Golf and Model S), but below these two is where things get interesting, as several plug-in hybrids shined, the Outlander PHEV was Third with 190 units, the Audi A3 e-Tron improved once again its personal best and ended the month with 182 units and the #4, a first for the german car.

In #7 we have a new appearance, with the VW Golf GTE (finally) landing in Norway, with 144 units, will we see it lead the PHEV chart, just like its e-Golf brother does in the BEV front? Maybe, but the A3 e-Tron cousin and the Outlander PHEV will bee two tough cookies to beat.

As for the Mercedes B-Class ED, the 134 units sold last month not only represent a new personal record, but it also might mean that the plug-in Mercedes have finished their landing safely and now are opening the gates and letting all their electrics come out and play.

Looking to the YTD ranking, the PHEV Best-Seller trophy is hardly disputed by the Outlander PHEV, up one position to #6 and now only 5 units behind the #5 and direct competitor Audi A3 e-Tron.

The Merc B-Class ED had a great month, jumping five positions to #10, while the Golf GTE is #14 for now, but a Top 10 place is in its sights in the next couple of months.

Looking at the brands ranking, Volkswagen continues to increase the lead (40%), followed at a distance by Tesla (17%) and Nissan (13%).

  1. Always nice to read about norwegian sales and (as a C-Zero driver) I am always happy to see two diget sales for the "triplets" as we call the C-Zero, Ion and I-Miev in Germany. (Great cars, but totally underestimated!)

    1. I agree, i think the outside looks keep many people away from what is essentially a nice city car.

  2. The Ofvas numbers are a bit higher http://www.ofvas.no/bilsalget-i-april/category659.html
But I guess it would be hard to find the exact cars that are missing.
