EV's were sold last registered in Germany, with sales doubling regarding the same month last year, with the EV Share growing a little further to 0,63%, up some 0,03% regarding last August and a significant 0,19% regarding December '14, when it recorded 0,44%.
As tradition in the German EV market, there was a surprise in the leadership, with the Kia Soul EV retaining the Monthly Best Seller seat (The first to do so in 10 months), with a new personal best, by registering 380 units.
The restyled Mitsu Outlander PHEV had its best result since May, selling 208 units and placing itself in #2, followed by three domestic best sellers: Audi A3 e-Tron, BMW i3 and VW Golf GTE.
Outside the Top 5 but worthy of reference are some new models from the Autumn Collection, the VW Passat GTE registered 136 units in its first real sales month, earning it a #6, while the BMW X5 40e plug-in hybrid sold 54 units, enough for a #11 in September and outselling the default choice plug-in Luxury SUV, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid (Aka: Plug-In). By the way, this segment is now becoming crowded, besides the Cayenne Plug-In, we now have the aforementioned BMW X5, the Audi Q7 e-Tron and the Mercedes GLE500e. Also a sign
of a very balanced market, the Soul EV, despite being only in Fourth, it is only 217 units behind the leader, if these recent performances should continue in the future, it wouldn't be surprising to finish 2015 and see a Kia as the Best Selling EV...In Germany!
Below
the top spots, the Renault Zoe switched positions with the veteran Smart Fortwo ED, with Renault's hatch climbing to #9 and the tiny two seated dropping to #10.
The Passat GTE jumped three positions to #16 and it's looking for a position in this year Top 10.

How did the Audi Q7 e-Tron get so many sales, i read it can be bought in 2016. Article was from May 2015 (focus.de "Audi Q7 e-tron quattroMit Diesel-Hybrid: Der neue Q7 tankt mit Stecker", Mittwoch, 13.05.2015, 10:04)
ReplyDeleteAre those dealer models?
Yes, they are still in Dealer-demo phase.
DeleteI've been reading that it will be sold from "late 2015" so hopefully those dealer models will soon be joined by ones sold to regular customers too. =)
DeleteHi, Jose.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great job.
Always a pleasure to read your blog.
Just a little extra good news... about Mercedes PHEVs.
Looking at the tables in http://www.kba.de/SharedDocs/Publikationen/DE/Statistik/Fahrzeuge/FZ/2015_monatlich/FZ8/fz8_201509_pdf.pdf?__blob=publicationFile&v=2
Table 2 gives a total of 103 PHEVs for the German brand.
Table 3 (that shows hybrids, without specifying plug-in ones), says that 15 are the GLE500e (as your table reports) and 24 are S500e (also not available as non plug-in hybrid).
For the C350e, we calculate them as difference from the above figures, and we get 64 (out of 147 total hybrids).
Ciao.
Alok
Ranking updated, thanks.
DeleteAnd Tesla n.6, can't figure those germans... Going more to hybrids, fear of the eléctron? Hybridus will died, I think
