"Hey, remember me?" - It seems a lot prospective buyers do.

Stepping Up Edition

With over 10.000 registrations, the first time is happens in January, the upward sales trend continues, with YoY sales up 70%, leaving the EV Share at a record 0.93%, the US market is headed for a record year, with December surely surpassing the 250.000 units landmark, and 300.000 units in 2017 a possibility at hand.

With Tesla taking the usual time to breathe after the last month of the quarter stampede, the Best Seller of the Month trophy did not went to the media-friendly Chevrolet Bolt nore to the more controversial Prius Prime (Second Placed with 1.366 units. In possibly related news, the regular Prius is down 28% YoY...), but to the surefooted Chevrolet Volt, which started the month registering 1.611 units a new all-time best for a single model in January.  It seems the new boys in town (Bolt, Prius) will have another competitor for Best Seller...

Looking below, we see the Nissan Leaf holding on in Fifth Spot, with 772 units, slightly above the 755 of January 2016, while the Mercedes C350e is starting the year on the right foot, with 210 units, already the Second Best Selling midsize model in the ranking, the Mercedes PHEV is shaping up to be one of the surprises of the year.

In the manufacturers ranking, Chevrolet (26%) is determined to win the manufacturers leadership in 2017, followed by Tesla (15%) and Toyota (13%).

In January, 127 FCEV's were registered, with the Toyota Mirai leading (83 units), followed by the Honda Clarity (42) and the runnout mode Hyundai Tucson FCEV (2 units), that placed the share at 0.01%.
