Chevy Bolt pushes up

Canada's EV market continues on fire in February, with sales (884 units) doubling regarding the same month last year, keeping the EV Share at a record 0.7%, with the Chevrolet Volt reigning supreme.

The American car was up 161% YoY to 266 registrations, followed by the Tesla Model S (128 units) and the evergreen Nissan Leaf (113 units, up 122% YoY!).

Despite this unexpected good result from the Japanese hatchback, in the YTD ranking the Tesla Model X remained in Third.

Looking at the remaining models, the big news was the good result of the Chevrolet Bolt in its full sales month (86 units), jumping to #5, with its eyes now on a podium seat.

In the manufacturers ranking, Chevrolet is in the lead, with 36% share (up 3%), followed by Tesla (25%) and Nissan (11%).

Looking into March preliminar results, the Volt had its best result in 6 months, with 377 units, but Chevrolet big news was the Bolt performance, with 241 units, faring far better than south of the border.

The other significant model with available numbers is the Nissan Leaf, with 144 units, up 47% YoY.

Looking at the full-size vehicles class, the surprise is the Tesla Model S standing in between the usual best sellers from Mercedes and BMW, by reaching Second Place in an off-peak month.

Will we see it reach the leadership in March? I wouldn't bet against it.
