Zoe pushes up French market
The French EV passenger car market went back to black in May, with 2.885 registrations last month, up 23% YoY, with YTD the market up 32% regarding the same period in 2016.
The mass delivery of the 40 kWh version of the Renault Zoe returned to positive numbers, with deliveries up to 1.230 units, while in the remaining top positions, nothing was changed regarding April, with the usual Nissan Leaf in Second, with 237 units, followed by the trendy Mercedes GLC350e (178 units, a new record) in Third, the BMW i3 in Fourth, while the VW Golf GTE closes the Top 5, with 105 deliveries, its best result in 7 months.

In a market known for its stability, few significant changes occurred, in this case the main news were the climb to Seventh Place by the BMW 225xe Act. Tourer, thanks to 94 registrations, its best result in over a year, while the 2016 Best Selling PHEV Golf GTE jumped seven positions to #10, and its all-electric cousin, the VW e-Golf, had its best result in three years(!), delivering 26 units of the new 36 kWh version, rising to #26.
Special mention to the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, registering 75 units (Discount campaign?), its best result in 17 months, allowing it to climb to #23, while the first full deliveries month of the Second Generation Toyota Prius PHV witnessed an impressive 95 registrations, the nameplate highest result ever in France and three times the registrations made during the whole of 2016...Should the local importer receive enough units from the Mothership, and we could see it reach a Top 10 position by the end of the year.

In the brands ranking, Renault (50%, up 1%) continues to be the Master In Command, followed at a distance by BMW (9%, up 1%), and Nissan (8%, up 1%). Down in the ranking, Volkswagen is recovering ground, jumping to 4% share, up from 2% in the previous month.
