Japan February 2016



Second Life  - Chapter Two Edition


The Japanese EV is up 57% YoY, with 4.475 units. representing the best selling month in three years, and placing the EV Share at over 1,1%, or near record levels.

The 30kWh-rejuvenated Nissan Leaf continues to be the main driving force, with 2.819 units, beating its five year record of 2.593 units, established in Feb. '11, and leaving the Outlander PHEV miles behind, Mitsu's SUV recorded 1.317 units, up 117% YoY, but significantly behind its  2014 (1.630 sales) and 2013 (2.079) February performances.

  1. Woah, two months more than in half year 2015. Perhaps this year Nissan could reach 20000 Leaf in Japan.

  2. If the trend (~ +50%) continues the year 2016 will be a little below 40k EVs sold :-)

  3. I think it's not only because of 30kwh batteries but also some incentives/special offers involved. Will be very interesting to find out.

    1. The Japan Leaf has new features lane departure warning, emergency braking, new colors, new aero style versions and so on.

  4. Norway numbers are out, BEV stay the same, while PHEV increased from ~200 to ~1500. I think when more BEVs are added next year the BEV will rise again, and it seems because of a lot of new PHEV models this year the PHEV share will hava a great year.

    Marketshare of EVs now at 29.47% :)
