Volt pushes the market forward
Canada's EV market is running hot, with 1.081 units registered in August, it was the third consecutive month that the four digits were achieved, with YoY up 62%, pulling the EV Share to a record 0.48% (And over 0,6% in August), heading the Canadian EV Market to some 9.000 units by the end of the year, thus shattering the present record of 6.657 units, recorded last year.
A local darling, the Chevrolet Volt, Canada's four times Best Selling EV, leads the way, improving its own record for the
Spoiler alert for September: The Volt reached 446 units last month, not only new personal record, but also a new all-time high for a single model in Canada. Will we see it reach 500 in October?
The other significant model with available numbers for last month is the Nissan Leaf, with 146 units, two units above September '15.
Looking at the rest of the ranking, the main news was the rise-and-rise of the Tesla Model X in the ranking, it is now #5 with 389 units, becoming the Best Selling SUV on the market, with four months to go, the Freemont-made SUV seems certain to reach #4, as for a podium position, it's not impossible, but the Leaf lead seems too much to handle.
In the manufacturers ranking, Chevrolet is the Master In Command, thanks to the Volt success, with 32% share, followed by Tesla (21%) and Nissan (14%).

Tesla Model S vs The Others
Pl | Model | YTD '16 |
1 | Mercedes CLS / E-Class | 2.110 |
2 | BMW 5-Series | 1.329 |
3 | Tesla Model S | 1.007 |
4 | Mercedes S-Class | 697 |
5 | Audi A6 | 656 |
Like in its domestic market, the Model S is stable at the Third Spot, but the BMW 5-Series is closer here than south of the border, maybe with a sales push (The S75 for S60 price?) it can overcome the Bimmer soon.
Tesla Model X vs The Others
Pl | Model | Aug. '16 |
1 | Mercedes GLE | 647 |
2 | BMW X5 | 529 |
3 | Volvo XC90 | 255 |
4 | Audi Q7 | 247 |
5 | Mercedes GLS Tesla Model X | 229 107 |
Now that the Model X has landed and is on its third deliveries month, we can see that its numbers have to increase significantly, if it wants to reach the same level of success of its Model S older brother, will we see it reach the 300 units/month soon?
