All Time Records
Norway has been the Poster Child for electromobility, but there are other markets moving out of the Early Adopters niche, one of the less known is Iceland, its local plug-in market now has the Second highest EV share in the World, with 3.61%, ending September with 575 new plug-ins, 96% above the same period last year, with last month alone being responsible for 105 units, a new all-time record.
To have a sense of the extraordinary evolution of this market, 2015 ended with 411 EV's registered in that year, 2014 ended with 200, 2013 with 72 and 2012 only 18...

Looking at the models ranking, the two times winner (2013 & 14) Nissan Leaf is ahead of the race, with 95 units, running ahead of a PHEV pack (Outlander PHEV, Passat GTE, Golf GTE and Volvo XC90 T8), all trying to reach the Japanese hatchback, which in turn, is looking to beat the 108 units recorded by itself in 2014, which still holds as the highest number of registrations by a single model in a year.
Looking at the remaining models, the Kia Soul EV jumped to #6, surpassing last year leader VW e-Golf (A year ago it had 75 units...), becoming the second Best Selling BEV, while on the second half we see the arrival of two important models, with the promising Audi Q7 e-Tron registering 14 units and jumping to #12 (#2 in September), while the Tesla Model X landed with its first delivery, the Palo Alto manufacturer never really caught on with the locals, so maybe the Model X could be what the doctor ordered, in this SUV-loving market.
In the manufacturers ranking, Volkswagen is leading (29%, down 2%) comfortably, followed by Nissan (19%) and the Third Placed, Mitsubishi (13%).
