Hyundai Ioniq Electric - Good car waiting for a decent-sized battery |
IONIQ Superstar
After a long absence, the South Korean market is back to EV Sales, the headline news is the thunderous arrival of the Hyundai Ioniq Electric, shooting immediately to Number One, pulling the total numbers back to positive numbers, now up 28% YoY, with the market share now at a record 0,18%.
The aforementioned Hyundai has a 1.000 units-long waiting list to fulfill, so the 2.000 units mark can be achieved until year end, placing it at different sales level from the remaining competition.
The following models are miles behind, with their sales down, probably affected by the Ioniq arrival.
An intriguing addition to the market is the arrival of the Chevrolet Volt, considering this is the first market outside North America for the Second Generation Volt, it will be interesting to see if its sales take off here.
Pl | Model | Jan-Sep 2016 |
1 | Hyundai Ioniq Electric | 1.304 |

The Ria Soul EV seems to be a mixture of Kia Ray EV and Kia Soul EV :)
ReplyDeleteCorrected. :)
DeleteActually, "Ria" could be a good name for a Portuguese manufacturer, they could present the "Aveiro" model, the "Formosa"...Or with an expanded line up, the "Vigo", "Pontevedra"...
Hi José.
ReplyDeleteAny news about the sales in October in South Korea? I'm curious about how good is the IONIQ selling there, now that it's arriving Europe.
Regarding SK, as currently i don't have a reliable source, i can get in a couple of days or just within a few months, but once i have more data, i will publish it.
