New Leaf takes over in record market
The Irish PEV market is known for its love for the Nissan Leaf, a six times (2011/12/14/15/16/17) winner of the Best Seller trophy, and with the arrival of the new Leaf, things could only get better.
And so it did, with the Japanese hatchback sales growing 12% YoY, helping the market reach new heights, like the 219 units registered last month, a new record, or the current 1% market share, a new all-time high.
The BMW 530e, Best Selling Rookie last year, is now Second Placed, with 86 units, while last year runner-up, the Hyundai Ioniq Electric, is now Third, with 74 deliveries.
Below the podium, reference for the new Kia Niro PHEV, Second in April, with 29 registrations, and the Tesla Model S, Third last month with 16 deliveries, the nameplate best performance ever in Ireland, with the peculiar fact that it happened on the usually slow first month of the quarter, giving strength to the theory that Tesla is focusing Model S/X deliveries for Q2 in export markets.
