The new Panamera PHEV is landing across Europe with strong numbers

Record Month

The French EV passenger car market had a record month last month, with 4.108 registrations, up 40% YoY, with the YTD now above 18.000 units.

The mass delivery of the 40 kWh Renault Zoe made the French model reach 1.882 deliveries, up 41% YoY, while in the remaining top positions, the trendy Mercedes GLC350e (258 units, third consecutive record) reached Second Place, dropping the Nissan Leaf (193 units, worst result since January) to Third, while in Fifth Place we have a surprise, with the new Smart Fortwo ED closing the Top 5 right in its landing month, with 127 deliveries, the nameplate best result since 2013. A sign of good things to come for the diminutive EV?

In a market known for its stability, the main news were the Mercedes GLC350e closing in on the Third Placed BMW i3, so expect in July for a new Bronze bearer, while the Tesla Model S climbed to Seventh Place, thanks to 109 registrations, its best result in 2017. On the other hand the Audi A3 e-Tron dropped two positions to #17, having registered only 20 units, it worst result in 30 months..

Special mention to the high number of newcomers shaking the market, besides the aforementioned arrival of the new Smart Fortwo ED, the recent Mini Countryman PHEV registered 108 units last month, pulling it to #6 in June, the second full deliveries month of the Second Generation Toyota Prius PHV saw it jump to #16 in the YTD ranking, the Hyundai Ioniq PHEV debuted in June with 80 units, while the six-figure-priced Porsche Panamera PHEV landed with 73 units, another impressive performance for the new Porsche plug-in model, which is seen as a testbed for the upcoming Mission E.

In the brands ranking, Renault (49%, down 1%) continues to be the Master In Command, followed at a distance by BMW (9%), and Nissan (7%, down 1%).
