| Volvo: Now in Third |
Finland has become one of my favorite markets to report, because news are always good, and October is no exception, with a total of 281 EV's sold, up 107% regarding the same month last year, with YTD numbers doubling the 2016 result, with the EV Share up again to a record 2,3%.
Looking at the models ranking, the Mercedes GLC350e is the unchallenged ruler, rising from #15 in 2016 to an undisputed leadership (18% share), with 415 units, shattering the previous record of 266 registrations, made by the Volvo XC90 PHEV last year. And there's still two months to go...
If the runner-up VW Passat GTE has a precious advantage over the competition to make it the favorite to win Silver, the Bronze medal is still up in the air, with three models separated by just 13 units, the BMW 530e is the current holder, thanks to a good sales mommentum, but with cold weather coming, the #5 Audi Q7 e-Tron (13 units behind), and especially the #4 Volvo XC90 PHEV (-1 unit) can get a sales boost, thanks to their SUV abilities, and surpass the German Sedan.
Volvo had a good performance in October, doing a 1-2 win last month, thanks to the arrival of its XC60 PHEV, grabbing 59 deliveries in its only second month on the market (Will it be the 2018 Best Seller?), while its larger sibling, the XC90 PHEV, was second, with 30 sales, its best result since January.
Looking at the manufacturers ranking, Mercedes (21%) is in the lead, followed closely by BMW (Also 21%) in Second, with Volvo (11%) surpassing Volkswagen (11%) in the race for Third Place, with Tesla (9%) still hoping to charge forward in December and steal the Bronze medal in the last minute.
