A contender for the Nissan Leaf? |
BMW 330e Edition
The seasonal Irish EV market is growing steadily, with YTD sales up 15%, with the EV market share reaching 0.44%, already on par with last year result of 0.47%.
The local Golden Standard, the Nissan Leaf, had an additional 54 units registered last month, but this time it had to look back, as the BMW 330e registered 33 units, the best result ever by a model not named Nissan Leaf...
Will this be the first model since 2013 to face up to the five times (2010/11/12/14/15) winner Nissan Leaf? Not likely, but it could steal some monthly Best Selling trophies, a Leaf monopoly since November of last year.

The 330e is already Third, but it will be a question of time until it reaches #2, but there are other BMW models climbing in the ranking, the i3 did a pb record of 9 deliveries last month, climbing to #4, while the 225xe Act. Tourer is now #11, looking soon to join the Top 10.
Looking at the manufacturers ranking, Nissan is miles away from everyone else, with 57% share, but BMW (17%) is growing, thanks to its strong (And vast) lineup, with Volvo in Third, with 10% share.
Once a BEV stronghold, in 2013 it was still a 100% BEV market, PHEV's have been gaining ground and in 2016 they account for 34% of sales, a mammoth 20% more than the share achieved last year (14%), this is another European market where plug-in hybrids are the trend du jour.
