Tesla Edition

The Swiss EV market registered some 350 units last month, down 42% YoY, with the EV Share dropping to 1.72%.

Looking at the models ranking, the leader Tesla Model S had the usual first-month-of-the-quarter-low-point, but this time deliveries were even lower than usual, with only 46 units, it was a 77% dive drop over the same month last year and also 53% lower than last April. Problems on the horizon with buyers defecting Tesla, or, are buyers moving for the newer Model X?

Nevertheless, it was enough to hold on to the Second position in its size class, staying ahead of the Audi A6 (838 units) and the Mercedes E-Class (801), with the leader BMW 5-Series (1.000 units) distancing itself from the American Sports Sedan Liftback.

Looking elsewhere, the BMW i3 had its worst result in 17 months, with only 12 units, but all is well, as it will likely be a momentary drop, due to anticipation for the longer-range versions. More worrisome is the drop in the Nissan Leaf sales, with only 2 units registered, its worst performance in almost three years, either Nissan has an ace up its sleeve to spike sales, or the Japanese hatch will end the year lower than last year (#11).

In the manufacturers ranking, Tesla is comfortably ahead, with 27% share, down 2%, followed by Volkswagen (12%) and Audi (12%), with Renault (11%) on the lookout for a podium seat.
