Zoe Excels Edition
Unlike the General Market, the German plug-in market is rich on surprises, and this December proved it: The Renault Zoe simply obliterated the previous sales record (311 units, Smart Fortwo ED in October '13), by selling 433 units, making it the sixth(!) model to win the monthly Best Seller trophy in 2014.
Tesla also had a good result (165 units), beating its personal best in teutonic lands, but the second spot went for the VW Golf GTE, with 195 units (A new PB), which seems to have a warmer welcome than its all-electric brethren.

In #5 we get something of a disappointment, the BMW i3 only sold 103 units, its worst result of the year.

2 | Volkswagen Golf GTE | 195 |
3 | Smart Fortwo ED | 170 |
4 | Tesla Model S | 165 |

Looking at the YTD ranking, the Renault Zoe benefitted from its unexpectd result to rise another position, ending the year in #3, with the Model S also rising in the last month to #6.
Looking at individual yearly performances of the Top 3, the BMW i3 won the Best Seller title in its first full year on the market, with 2.231 units, the Smart Fortwo ED dropped to Second, with sales down 35%, but it is still an interesting performance, considering that a new Generation Fortwo started to be sold a couple of months ago. In third There's the first foreign model, the Renault Zoe, wich was runner-up in 2013, but on the positive side, it has sold almost 50% more cars than in the previous year.
On the manufacturers ranking, BMW ascended to the Top for thwe first time, with 20% share, followed by Renault (16%) and VW (15%). As for the previous title owner, Smart, it dived in to the Fourth position, losing 20% share (12% in 2014 vs 32% before).

I thougt the New smart ed comes later than the ice Version ( mid next year?). And i read that the i3 had some problems regarding Produktion of carbon. Maybe thats a reason why they sold a little bit less.
